Betty Godfrey

In loving memory of Betty L. Godfrey

November 12, 1933 – October 6, 2026

Betty L. (Holman) Godfrey, 92, of Belpre, Ohio, passed away on October 6 , 2026, at her daughter’s home in Vincent, Ohio, surrounded by her family. Betty was the daughter of the late Charles Holman and Mildred Creamer Holman. She was the wife of the late Bernard J. Godfrey.

Betty retired from the Internal Revenue Service in Parkersburg, West Virginia.

Betty married Bernard J. Godfrey on August 4, 1951. Together they built a beautiful life and family, sharing more than 64 years of marriage until his passing on April 14, 2016. The family they created and the generations that followed were among Betty’s greatest joys and remain a lasting part of their legacy.

Above all, Betty cherished her family and took tremendous pride in watching it grow through four generations. Family get-togethers, cookouts, and holidays were some of her favorite times, and she treasured every opportunity to have everyone together. She enjoyed traveling to visit family, cheering on her grandchildren at their sporting events, shopping, dining at her favorite restaurants, and dancing. She especially treasured her time living in California and her visits to Texas. Betty also had a special love for her pets and the companionship they brought her.

Betty took great pride in her home and beautiful yard, even earning Belpre’s Yard of the Month. Those who knew her will remember her ornery streak, fun-loving personality, and the way she could keep everyone on their toes.

She leaves behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, traditions, and memories that her family will continue to share for generations.

Betty is lovingly remembered by her family. Her 5 children are Deborah (David) Williams of Vincent, Ohio; the late Bernard Jennings Jr.; Kimberly (Steve) Sapp of Parkersburg, West Virginia; Douglas (Denise) Godfrey of Palmyra, Tennessee; and Bradley (Tiffany) Godfrey of Johnstown, Ohio.
