Sandra Kay Walters Way, born Sandra Kay Snyder on April 17, 1942, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, died August 26, 2026, at WVU Medicine Camden-Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg. She was 84.
Sandra was the daughter of Francis C. Snyder and Glada J. (Middaugh) Snyder. Born and raised in Parkersburg, she graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1960.
In 1962, Sandra married Franklin D. Walters. Together they had two sons, Samuel F. Walters and Michael D. Walters. Sandra devoted much of her life to her family and to raising her sons. She was an active and supportive presence throughout their childhood, volunteering in their classrooms, attending school activities, driving them to countless athletic events, and encouraging them in their academic and extracurricular pursuits. Although primarily a homemaker, she also worked locally at various times, including during her sons’ college years, always with the goal of supporting her family.
Sandra later married Gary Way in 1997.
Above all, Sandra loved her family and took great pride in her sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. She is survived by her sons, Samuel F. Walters of Valparaiso, Indiana, and Michael D. Walters of Spring, Texas; four grandchildren, Samuel P. Walters of Valparaiso, Indiana, Madison A. Walters of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Grace M. Walters and Avery M. Walters of Spring, Texas; and her great-granddaughter, Amelia L. Walters of Valparaiso, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by Franklin D. Walters, who died in 2012; her husband, Gary Way, who died in 2022; her parents, Francis and Glada Snyder; and her brother, Raymond E. Snyder.
Sandra will be remembered by her family for the many years she devoted to them, for her steadfast support of her children, and for the important role she played in the lives of those closest to her.
A funeral Service for Sandra will take place Sunday, August 30, at 3pm, at Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg. Visitation will be held the same day from 1-3pm. Burial will immediately follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
