Ed had 2 brothers, Fred and Dick, both deceased
Ed retired from the USAF after 23 years of honorable service.
During his career he served in the Mighty 8th Air Force, Strategic Air Command and Tactical Air Command as a Cartographer.
The last nine years of his career, he was the Air Force Recruiter in Staunton Virginia
After serving honorably on many military bases around the country and Hawaii, He ultimately returned to Parkersburg WV to live out the rest of his life with his family. Ed was a devoted son and cared for his mother until the end.
Ed was married to his beloved wife, Diana Criss on December 2,1963. The remained married for 62 years.
Ed and Diane had 3 sons. John Workman, Scott Workman and Todd Workman Spouses are Dawn and Connie Workman. 2 grandchildren, Joseph Scott Workman and Emily Anne Ellington, husband, Samuel Keene Ellington.
He is survived by 2 nephews, Bill and Frank Workman 2 nieces Jill Workman Woolbright and Betsy Rutherford, a brother in law, Don Criss, sister in law Carla Brooks (Andrew), special niece Rachel Criss, nephews Jacob and Adam Brooks and several other nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Ed loved to golf with his sons and grandchildren. Despite his age and bad knee, he could hold his own. He was also an avid Mountaineer fan and enjoyed going to Morgantown to watch them play.
Most of all, Ed loved his wife and family. Ed always put family first. Ed and Diane would travel far and often, to be with their family, especially their grandchildren, Joe and Emily. They were his pride and joy. He was a devoted husband, father and friend. Always kind and caring. He was loved by all and and will be greatly missed. Ed was a true patriot and served in his beloved USAF. He always talked about his service with pride and honor.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00am at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg with Pastor Sam Lewis officiating. Immediately following he will be laid to rest at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00-7:00pm.
