Marilyn Jeanette “Jan” Reynolds Thomas, 73, passed away Wednesday March 11, 2026 at Genesis Sistersville Center. She was born in Marietta, OH a daughter of the late Clarence “Shorty” and Doris (Ruckman) Reynolds.
Jan was a graduate of St. Marys High School class of 1971. She was a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, serving four years, three months, and ten days. While in service she received the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. She was the first of two women to join the all male reserve unit in Wheeling, where she served for two years.
She is survived by a brother James Reynolds of Havelock, NC and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
There will be no services per her request. Interment will be at the IOOF Cemetery in St. Marys.
Memorial donations in her memory should be made to your local animal shelter.

Do Not weep for me when I am gone
For I have friends in the great beyond.
All the little ones I used to feed
Will come to me in my time of need.
They will purr and bark in great delight,
And I will hold and hug them tight.

When my furry friends all welcome.
