James Lewis “Pete” Stanley, 87, of Barlow, OH passed away on December 24, 2025 at home surrounded by family. He was born in Elizabeth, W.Va to Raymond and Annie Stanley on August 12, 1938.

Jim was a 1956 graduate of Wirt Co. high school in Elizabeth. He served in the US Air Force from 1956-1960. Jim began his career at Marbon Chemical in 1961 and retired from G.E. Plastics after 33 years of service. After

retiring, he worked as a toll taker on the Memorial Bridge in Parkersburg.

Jim served as an EMT and volunteer fireman with the Barlow Volunteer Fire Department for several years. He also served as a cub scout leader for Pack 217 in Barlow and as a District Executive for the Kootaga and

Allohawk Boy Scout councils.

Jim was a member of the Light Baptist Church in Vincent, OH, where he taught Sunday school and was a deacon for many years.

He was a great storyteller, especially stories about growing up in West Virginia and his time in the military.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, Raymond Robert Stanley Jr., one sister Ruth Hubbard, one niece, Brenda Metz, nephew Michael Anthony Hubbard, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Janet S. Stanley of Barlow, and two sons, Matt (Holly) Stanley of Washington Court House, OH and Scott Stanley of Barlow. Three grandchildren Carter and Brooklynn Stanley of Washington Court House and Madelynn Stanley-Lang of Warren Township, Washington County, OH. Also, one sister Ruby Troutner of Belpre.

There will be a celebration of life service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations be made to
