Albert Lawrence Martin Jr. passed away peacefully on October 20, 2026. He was born April 24, 1942, in Pomeroy, Ohio, to Albert Lawrence Martin, Sr. and Eileen Frances (Hysell).
Albert was a proud 1963 graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s in Education. He went on to achieve his Master’s in Education from Ohio University. After starting a teaching career at Marietta City Schools, he spent most of his time at Warren Local Schools as a junior high science teacher before retiring as Principal at Waterford High School in 1995. Mr. Martin was proud of his students, including those who became his future visitors, doctors, and caretakers.
Albert is survived by his devoted wife Elsie, whom he married in 1963. He is also survived by his son Jeffrey (Donatella); daughter Janet (Ramesh); grandchildren Gabriella, David, Julianna, Nathaniel, Alexa, and Amelie; sister Madolyn Sandifer (Bruce), and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ronald and Mike, sister Suzanne, and two infant brothers.
The family wishes to thank Belpre Landing and extended medical staff for their dedication.
As a polio survivor, Albert was able to live a long life. He was arguably the biggest OSU Buckeye fan, enjoyed classic movies, especially Casablanca (1942), and loved good meals and storytelling. In lieu of flowers, please consider supporting Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
