Phyllis Barber Harris of Belpre, has gone to be with the Lord. She was born on October 15, 1938. Phyllis graduated from Belpre High School in 1956. She retired from Selby General Hospital as a medical transcriptionist after 18 years and worked most of her life as a seamstress and babysitter until 2020 due to health issues. She made many beautiful gowns, afghans, baby items, and quilts that she gave away to those she loved.
She attended Nazarene churches and was very involved in them. She was a member of the Belpre Church of the Nazarene and dearly loved her church family. She sang in the choir and loved helping with the Prime Timers garage sales.
She leaves behind 2 sons: Mark (Pam) of Waterford, Michael (Vicki) of Marietta, a daughter-in-law, Sue Harris, granddaughters, Leslie (Chris) Couture, Ashley Harris and grandson, Jeremy (Beth) Harris, great grandchildren, Isabelle Harris, Annabelle Harris, Tristan Couture, Liam Couture, Ayden Couture, Quentin Couture, special nieces, Carolyn (Randy) Hutchinson and Susie (Mike) Dougherty. Her extended loving family, Brock (Ashley & Lainey) Miller, Micalyn Miller, Sierra O’Shea (Chris and Elias) Miller, Andrea Moore, and Miles Syoc and devoted and loving friend Linda Cornell.
She was preceded in death by her son, Harley Harris Jr., grandchildren, Amy Harris and Jessica Harris. Also her parents preceded her in death.
Services will be held at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre on Saturday, 1:00 PM with Reverend Gary Webb officiating, and she will be laid to rest at East Lawn Cemetery in Marietta, Ohio. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 AM till time of services at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Belpre Church of the Nazarene, earmarked “Children’s Fund” in memory of Phyllis.
