Roger Whaley
Roger Lee Whaley, 91, of Parkersburg, passed away July 15, 2026 at the Camden Clark Medical Center. He was born June 2, 1935 in Guysville, OH, a son of the late Raymond and Althea Bernard Whaley.
Mr. Whaley owned and operated Parkersburg Nissan from 1969 to 1998 before selling to the Wharton family. He then opened Affordable Used Cars and Affordable Trailers, a local business on Murdock Avenue where you could find him talking with folks and enjoying the company at the dealership. He was truly a “people person” with a big personality. He was a lover of animals, especially his dog Tilly and enjoyed feeding the birds, squirrels and deer daily. Roger served his country in the U. S. Army.
Surviving is his loving wife of 65 years, Joyce Patterson Whaley, daughter Jennifer Whaley of Parkersburg, sisters Judy Algeo and Cheryl Ewing (Kenny), both of Athens, OH, nieces and nephews: Melissa Hollingsworth, Heather Clemons, Dylan Whaley and Ray Whaley along with family friends, Melva and Ron Pickens.
In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Whaley.
Funeral services will be Monday 2PM at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, Pastor Jimmy Cox officiating. Interment will follow at Parkersburg Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday 12-2.
