Carolyn A. Duncan, 69, of Parkersburg, WV passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at her home. Born in Parkersburg, she was the daughter of Beatrice (Doolittle) Hays and the late Webb Hays.

Carolyn will be remembered first and foremost for the deep love she had for her family. Nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her children and grandchildren, who were the greatest blessings of her life. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud grandmother, whose kindness, encouragement, and unconditional love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.

She retired from Verizon after many years of dedicated service. Carolyn also had a lifelong love for animals, especially her horses and her beloved dogs. She found peace and happiness caring for them, and her gentle spirit was evident in the compassion she showed to every animal she welcomed into her life. Carolyn was a dedicated member of the Wood County Horse Riding Club and supporter of the Mountwood Park Horse Camp.

More than anything, Carolyn loved the Lord Jesus Christ. Her faith was the foundation of her life. She walked closely with Him, trusting completely in His promises and finding comfort, hope, and peace through His grace. She lived with the confident assurance that through her faith in Jesus Christ, He had prepared a place for her in heaven, and she has now entered into His eternal presence.

She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Chuck Duncan; her mother, Beatrice Hays; her daughter, Jennifer Meador (Michael) of Morgantown; her son, Chris Duncan (Janelle) of Holly Springs, NC; six cherished grandchildren, Mason Meador, Addisyn Meador, Myles Duncan, Olivia Duncan, Gemma Duncan, and Leo Duncan; and her sister, Missy Hays.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Steven Hays.

A Celebration of Carolyn’s Life will be held on Saturday, July 18th, at 12:00pm at Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg, with Pastor David Chisholm officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00am-12:00pm prior to the service.

Though our hearts are broken, we rejoice knowing that Carolyn is healed, at peace, and reunited with her Savior. Her legacy of faith, love, compassion, and devotion to her family will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.

“In my Father’s house are many rooms…I go to prepare a place for you.”- John 14:3-2
