Miriam Charlene Allen, 60, of Belpre, passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, June 27, 2026.
She was born in Parkersburg, WV, a beloved daughter of Allen McNulty of Belpre and the late Mary “Charlene” (McHenry) McNulty.
An inspiration to many, Miriam impacted the lives of everyone fortunate enough to cross her path. Through her years of dedicated nursing at St. Joseph’s Hospital, she provided comfort, healing, and hope to countless patients and their families during their most vulnerable moments. For many years, she navigated life’s challenges with incredible resilience with the loyal help and constant companionship of her beloved service dog, Dusty, who preceded her in death.
Her selflessness extended far beyond the hospital walls; as a devoted Christian and new member of Hope Freewill Baptist Church, she was a cornerstone of faith, kindness, and steady support for her church community. In her personal life, Miriam’s warmth radiated into everything she did. Whether she was gifting a beautifully crafted, hand-crocheted piece or thoughtfully created scrapbook, Miriam put a piece of her heart into every gift, leaving behind tangible reminders of her warmth and creativity.
Though her passing leaves a large void, her profound love for her family—as a devoted partner, a proud mother, and a doting grandmother—leaves an enduring legacy of compassion and unconditional love that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Miriam’s strength and spirit were recognized on a grand scale when she was chosen to carry the Olympic torch—a proud moment she shared with Dusty right by her side, serving as a beautiful testament to her inspiring character and impact on those around her.
In addition to her father, she is survived by the love of her life, Randall Allen of Belpre, OH; her son, Russ Allen (Brittany) of Walker, WV; her cherished granddaughter, Addison Mathis; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary “Charlene” McNulty, and her brother, Richard McNulty.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday July 2, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Leavitt Funeral Home in Belpre. The family will receive friends and loved ones for visitation one hour prior to the service.
