David Mark Shepard, 72 of Macksburg, OH. passed away on June 24, 2026 at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
Born February 14, 1954 in Parkersburg, David was the son of Dale Shepard and Doris Hill Shepard. He was a graduate of Parkersburg South High School, proudly served in the United States Army, and spent much of his life working as a Laborer.
David enjoyed the simple things in life, especially hunting, fishing, and spending time with those he loved. He was known for his quick wit, infectious sense of humor, and his famous fried potatoes and tacos, which became family favorites. Even during life’s most difficult moments, David kept everyone laughing until the very end.
He is survived by his longtime partner of eight years, Dorothy Smith; His five sons, Michael, David, James (Lori), Gary (Melissa), Kamron (Miranda) and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. His siblings, Rhonda Barker (Roger) and Mike Shepard (Darlene) and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, James Shepard.
David will be remembered for the laughter he shared, the meals he lovingly prepared and the memories he created with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be Monday at 5:00pm at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg with Pastor Frank Miller officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 3:00 to 5:00pm.
Graveside services will be Tuesday at 2:00pm at the West Virginia National Cemetery at Grafton, WV.
