Lloyd "Pappy" Underwood

Lloyd Wayne Underwood, 94, of Vienna passed away April 22, 2026 at Camden Clark Medical Center. He was born November 14, 1931, a son to the late Bacil L. and Elsie Underwood (Watson).

Lloyd began his working years as a milk delivery man for his family farm in the Vienna area. He served in the Navy from 1951 to 1955. He was a boilerman third class on the USS Caloosahatchee His time in the Navy was during the Korean conflict. After he left the service he worked as a typewriter repairman and then he began his final career at AGA (Burdock) Gas in Washington WV which is where he retired from.

Lloyd had a variety of personal interests. He loved riding his Honda Goldwing with his wife Jean. They enjoyed taking long road trips as well as scenic rides around the area. He also enjoyed camping and taking trips to the beach with extended family. He did leather working, loaded ammo for himself and others, and also enjoyed working on model trains. His greatest love was spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was recently still getting down on the floor to play with the great grandchildren. We were all very jealous of this ability. He was a big part of our lives and will be greatly missed.

Surviving Lloyd are his wife of 74 years, Jean Underwood (Haught); children Tim Underwood (Dawn) and Penny Cain (Scott); grandchildren Sierra Shultz (Dean), Amanda Cain, Jeremy Underwood (Stephani), and Jay Underwood, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his granddaughter Erica Underwood Lovell.
