Nancy Lee Roberts, 78, of Parkersburg, WV., passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026, at Worthington Nursing Home. She was born in Parkersburg, WV., a beloved daughter of the late Charles H. Braden and Helen V. (Vanscoy) Braden.
Nancy was a dedicated employee of JCPenney for fifteen years, where she was known for her kindness and strong work ethic. She was also a faithful member of North Parkersburg Baptist Church where she served as a deaconess for many years. Above all, Nancy found joy in life’s simple pleasures including baking and sharing her homemade desserts with family and friends. She also shared a strong love for cats, Nancy opened her heart and home to several over the years warming her soul and providing an amazing home for each pet.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Rev. Kristi Shay Moore; her son, Troy Scot Moore, and his wife, Leslie Moore; her cherished grandchildren, Suzanne Moore and Scott Moore; her sister, Betty McCase; her very special nephew, Matthew McCase, and his wife Nichole McCase; and her very special great-niece, Maddie Lynn McCase. Nancy’s love for her family was unwavering, and she took great pride in each of them, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Roberts; her brother, Charles Ray “Porky” Braden; and her brother-in-law, Michael John McCase.
In keeping with Nancy’s wishes, there will be no visitation or formal services, internment will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband. Leavitt Funeral Home is assisting the family with cremation arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Nancy’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Parkersburg Humane Society, causes she faithfully supported throughout her life.
Nancy will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her generosity, and the love she so freely gave to those around her.
