It is with deep love and fond memories that we announce the passing of Ruth Ann Thompson, known lovingly as “Grams”, who left us on March 14, 2026 at the age of 82, surrounded by her loved ones at the WVU Medical Campus in Parkersburg, WV. She was born in Madison, WV on September 9, 1943 and was the daughter of the late Russell and Rebecca Williams Bell. She retired from Krogers. She had been a member of the Porterfield Baptist Church and currently was attending the Calvary Church in Parkersburg, WV. She had been a member of the Eagles Club. Ruth adored her beloved dog Joey and time spent with her family. She found great joy in spoiling her loved ones with delicious meals and many crocheted and quilted blankets. Her laughter was infectious and the center of all of our hearts. She will be deeply missed by all of her loved ones.
Survivors include her three children, Denise Thompson of Belpre, Ohio, Donna Thompson of Parkersburg, WV, and Jeffrey Thompson of Florida. Also surviving are her four grandchildren, Jeffrey Sky Wood, Courtney Payne and (Alec Jones), Robert Seth Alan Franklin and (Erin Harter), and Rose Pierce (Mike), her five great grandchildren, Harlie Rupe, Gaige McVay, Triston Cayton, Maybe Franklin, and her future great granddaughter, Elysia Jones. And two great-great grandchildren, Oakley and Jade Rupe. A brother Russell Bell of Georgia still survives, as well as her lifelong best friend Linda Synder.
She was preceded in death by her parents, the father of her children, Alan Clyde Thompson, her daughter Myra Thompson and two grandchildren, Jessica Diane Thompson and Daniel Lee Alan Thompson.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 351 Spence Rd. Belpre, Ohio from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
