Gerald Bradlev Vaught 80 of Mineral Wells, WV passed away on Sunday
March the 8th at the Belpre Landing Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in
Belpre Ohio.
He was born in Wood County WV on March 17. 1945 and was a former
resident of Charleston, WV. Brad was a graduate of Dunbar High School
class of 64. Shortly after graduation Brad joined the navy and was an
enlisted member of Attack Squadron 34 aboard the USS Intrepid. He spent
about one year in Vietnam and worked on the flight deck as a plane captain
taking care of squadron aircraft. In addition to the various medals and
ribbons he was awarded for his service in Vietnam he was also awarded The
Navy Achievement medal for meritorious achievement during combat
operations in Vietnam by the secretary of the navy.
After serving 3 years in the navy Brad was hired by General Motors in
Martinsburg WV working in their new warehouse. He worked as a fork lift
operator for almost 20 years when he was retired as result of a stroke he had
when he was 43. Because of his disability arrangements were made for him
to live beside of his brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Brenda Vaught. He
was cared for by them for approximately 30 years until he went to an
assisted living facility in Parkersburg,
Brad was preceded in death by his mother and father, Gerald and Mary
Vaught of Charleston WV.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law,
Ron and Brenda Vaught of Mineral Wells and nephew Ronald William also
of Mineral Wells. He is also survived by his great niece and nephew, Hanna
Rose Vaught and Heath Glen Vaught also of Mineral Wells. The family
wishes to thank all the staff at Belpre Landing for the care they provided to
Brad during the past several months
There will be no visitation or service at this time. The Leavitt funeral home
will be in charge of arrangements and Brad will be laid to rest beside his
mother and father at Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Elizabeth WV.
