George “Gene” Watkins, 83, of Parkersburg, WV died Wednesday February 25, 2026 at his residence. He was born in New Martinsville, WV a son of the late Walter Earl and Margaret Ruth (Huffman) Watkins.
He was a United States Marine veteran and owned RAJCO, LLC. He had been a very active member of MOV Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of Paden City American Legion Post 86. He loved running, participating in triathlons, reading, but most of all spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Margaret Polk; three children Richard Davis Polk of Morgantown, Alison Berman of San Francisco, CA, and Jason Robert Earl Watkins (Tricia) of Advance, NC; seven grandchildren Hailey and Dylan Polk, Henry and Wylie Berman, and Kaleb, Ian, and Sydney Watkins; brother LeMoyne Watkins (Shelia) of Naples, FL; sister Christy Eddy of Paden City, WV; and close friends Chris Baker (Geri) and Vickie Priddy.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law Jimmy Eddy.
A memorial gathering will be held in June at the Leavitt Reception Center with military honors. Inurnment will take place at West Virginia National Cemetery.
