Mary Louise Carter Smith, of Parkersburg, WV, age 83, was called home to glory on
Sunday January 4, 2026, surrounded by family.
Mary was born 09/15/1942 in Beloit, WI, the daughter of the late Maynard Carter and
Dolores Host.
She was a devoted CNA where she worked within the homes of her patients and
nursing home facilities. She used her gift to help others live with comfort and
independence, touching countless lives.
She is survived by her three children, Robb Hawkins (Paula), Lisa Hollen (Ray), and
Debbie Aguirre (John); seven granddaughters, Naddine Border (Chris), Courtney Stutler
(Andrew), Amye Toney (Josh), Rachel Hawkins (Brady), Mariah Aguirre (Bryce),
Addison McConaha, and Liss McGee; grandson, Cameron McGee; eleven great-
grandchildren, Kylee, Bailey, Arya, Meredith, Jospeh, Charlene, Everlyn, Xavier, Silas,
Roman, and Addison.
Mary was the rock of her family. She was a very proud wife, mom, grandma and great-
grandma. Her children lovingly followed her, as she made her home in different places.
She loved to share just how many grandkids and great-grandkids she had.
Riding motorcycles was Mary’s favorite way to spend time. She attended as many bike
rallies and group runs as she could with her late husband, Bill. She also enjoyed
crafting, online gaming, photoshop editing with animation and social networking.
Mary accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and called The Rock Family
Worship Center of Parkersburg, WV her home church.
In addition to her parents, she is proceeded in death by her two husbands, Harold W.
Smith and William “Bill” A. Yost; brother, Rick; sisters, Eleine and Jeannie.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday January 17, 2026 at the Leavitt
Funeral Home in Parkersburg, WV.
