Willie R. Holbert, 67 of Little Hocking, Ohio on January 3, 2026 passed away at his residence. He was born in Parkersburg, WV on August 15, 1958 and was the son of the late James and Deloris Scritchfield Holbert. Willie was proud of his working career which included Diamond Glass located in Vienna, WV, Huntsman Chemical which became Nova Chemicals in Belpre, United States Enrichment Corporation and Fluor-BWXT LLC both located in Piketon. Willie enjoyed working on automobiles and owned/operated Holbert’s Auto Body/Collision Center for many years. He had been a Warren Local School District (WLSD) Board Member for 15 years, holding multiple positions including President and Vice President. He was a key member of the Board during the renovation project of Barlow Vincent Elementary School into Warren Middle School. He strived to always make decisions based on what he felt was best for the children of WLSD, and wanted to make a difference in whatever he was doing. Willie loved seeing kids in the community have an opportunity to participate in sports. He served as both President and/or Vice President of the Little Hocking Youth Basketball association for a number of years. Willie helped organize multiple sports tournaments and instructional camps in WLSD as well. He coached both basketball and baseball when his kids were younger and enjoyed watching his grandchildren in their different activities. After his children finished participating in high school sports, he filled his weekends attending local and regional Dirt Track races.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Dorothy Greenlees Holbert; two children, Kyle (Angela) Holbert of Belpre, Ohio, Lacey (Jered) Mitchem of Little Hocking, Ohio; three grandchildren, Grady & Avery Mitchem and Miles Holbert; three sisters, Tennie Hunter, Angie (Brent) Powell, and Julie (Tom) Kuczko; a sister-in-law, Debbie Holbert; two brother-in-laws John (Pam) Greenlees and Ron Pettengill; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Willie never met a stranger and had some very special friends, Rod, Bob, Dan and many other people he made lasting connections with over the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Alan Holbert.

Services will be on Thursday at 1:00 PM at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and one hour prior to services on Thursday.

Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre is assisting the family with arrangements.

In remembrance of Willie Holbert’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to Warren Local Athletic Boosters or Little Hocking Fire Department.
