Martha Peters

Martha Cecile Reilley Peters, age 75, of Parkersburg, WV, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Eagle Pointe Health Care Center in Parkersburg. She was born on July 29, 1950, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Parkersburg, WV, to the late Robert J. Reilley and her beloved mother, Eleanor Rosalind Sprumont Reilley.

Martha graduated from Parkersburg High School and furthered her education to become a Registered Nurse. For forty-five years, she dedicated her career to caring for others, working in the Behavioral Health Units at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital, and Marietta Memorial Hospital, as well as with cancer patients at the Strecker Cancer Center in Marietta, Ohio.

With a vivacious spirit that made her the life of any party, Martha embraced life with gusto. She had an adventurous heart and an appreciation for the finer things, a passion she shared with her husband of 50 years, Daniel “Ned” Peters. Together, they traveled the world, and as an internationally licensed scuba diver, she explored the beauty of the ocean. At home, she found joy in her flower gardens and the companionship of her cats. Both Martha and Ned were also active members of the local AA community, where they generously gave back to others, sharing the support they had so gratefully received over the years.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Robert J. and Eleanor Reilley; her husband, Daniel “Ned” Peters; and her sister, Katherine “Kay” Reilley.

She is survived by her son, Glen (Danielle) Gunto of Proctorville, WV; her sisters, Elizabeth “Beth” Bosley of Urichsville, Ohio, Laura Reilley, Margaret “Marty” (Michael) Queen, Frances Reilley, and Robin Reilley, all of Parkersburg. She is also survived by her nephew, James “Dante” Boswell; nieces, Sylvia (Joseph) Owens, Rebecca Queen, and Alice (Jeff) Storz; and her great-nieces and great-nephews, Alaina Owens, Natalie Owens, Brenden Wood, and Logan Wood.

Her family and friends will hold a private celebration of her life at a later determined date, honoring her wish for a simple and intimate farewell.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to your local AA community or a local animal rescue organization
