Shirley Ann Dutton, of Belpre, passed away on December 13, 2025, at the age of 80, at the Camden Clark Medical Center, in Parkersburg, WV.

She was born on March 19, 1945, in Belpre, OH, a daughter of the late Pressley Burton and Tillie Mae (Gordon) Whealdon.

Shirley is survived by her 2nd husband Thomas Powell, and her cherished children, Lori Dutton, of Fair Oaks, CA and Robert Shannon Dutton (Monica), of Sacramento, CA. Her brothers, Ronald Whealdon, of Belpre, Dennis Whealdon (Vicki), of FL, Ernie Whealdon, of Little Hocking, OH, and Timothy Whealdon, of Athens, OH; sister Paula Dunfee, of Torch, OH, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Larry Whealdon and her 1st husband Robert “Bobby” Dutton. Bobby and Shirley moved their family to California in the mid-70s only to return to Ohio in their later years.

Professionally, Shirley was the head of Human Resources for Deutsch Defense Aerospace in California for many years and upon her return to Ohio she worked in nutrition at Camden Clark. Her work was not just a job but a means to impact the lives of those around her positively.

Shirley’s love for life extended far beyond her professional endeavors. Shirley had lived on a farm, where she raised chickens with tender care. Her garden was a testament to her patience and dedication. Shirley’s affinity for animals spoke volumes of her gentle soul, as she shared her warmth and kindness with every creature she encountered.

Those who had the pleasure of meeting Shirley were instantly touched by her compassion and loving personality, along with her great sense of humor. She remembered the names of almost everyone she met, making each person feel special and important. Shirley was the embodiment of love, always extending her caring nature to friends and family.

As we say goodbye to Shirley Ann Dutton, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest, marked by an unwavering capacity to love and bring joy to others. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to experience her kindness, her laughter, and her loving embrace.

Funeral services will be 1pm Friday December 19, 2025, at the Leavitt Funeral Home Belpre, with Pastor Adam Myers officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery Belpre. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley, 90 Mt. Tom Road, Marietta, OH 45750.
