Eldon Harold Young, 84, of Cutler, Ohio, passed away December 2, 2025, at the Marietta Memorial Hospital.
He was born on July 26, 1941, in Newark, Ohio a son of the late Ralph Everett and Mary May (Waldron) Young. Eldon had three siblings, Ralph Young, Edith Young Davis, and Wayne Young. He had lived in Dunbar, Ohio with his loving wife, Linda Lane Young. Together they raised four children, Scott Piper, Lara Boswell, Beth Bischoff, and David Young. Eldon had nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Eldon was a member of Rockland Methodist Church for over 50 years. He served as Lay Leader, Sunday School teacher, youth leader, piano player, and choir director over the years. He was also a lay speaker and filled the pulpit for Rockland and several other churches in the area when needed. Eldon helped organize and was an ongoing member of the Mid-Ohio Valley Model Railroad Club, now located in Parkersburg, WV. He belonged to two historical societies in Washington County. He was an amateur historian and had programs on local railroads and Belpre, Ohio. He was a talented woodworker and did many projects for his mother-in-law. He retired from Belpre City Schools, where over the years he was a teacher, a coach, and helped with the band. Eldon served as a U.S. Army veteran.
On December 2, 2025, Eldon went to be with his Lord. He will be missed by his family and many friends.
There will be a memorial service in July for family members at the Decatur Presbyterian Cemetery. On his birthday, Sunday, July 26, 2026, there will be a celebration of life, 12:30-3 pm, at Rockland Methodist Church, 2300 Washington Blvd., Belpre, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rockland Methodist Church, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, or to the local Humane Societies.
