Betty “Jean” Collins, 97, of Parkersburg, WV passed away November 22, 2025 at the Elison Assisted Living in Marietta, OH. She was born on June 23, 1928 in Blandville, WV a daughter of the late Hobert and Lula Zahn Lipscomb.
Jean was graduate of Doddridge County High School and later obtained her Certified Nurse Assistant license. She was an active member of First Christian Church and was a certified Sunday School Teacher obtaining the training from Parkersburg Community College. As many can testify, Jean lived her faith through her kindness and love towards others, always having a smile and was beloved by her neighbors and friends. She was active in the PTA in her younger years and all were welcome to her house and were treated with warmth, love and plenty of food.
She is survived by her son, Carlen (Charlene) Collins of Mineral Wells, WV; grandson, Dominic (Kayleigh) Collins of Barboursville, WV; sister, Helen Swisher of GA; daughter, Connie G. Osborne of FL and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband who she was married to for 64 years, Ralph Junior Collins; one brother, Bernard Lipscomb; two sisters, Gladnolene Bell and Jo Travis.
Funeral services will be Saturday, December 6th, at 1:00 pm at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg.
Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 5th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and Saturday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Donations may be made in her memory to Meals on Wheels or Old Man Rivers food programs.
