Patricia Ann Peterman, 88, formerly of Parkersburg, passed away at Lancaster House in Marietta, surrounded by her loving family. Pat spent many years adapting with strength and grace to the hurdles of dementia, facing each challenge with resilience and the unwavering support of those who loved her.
She graduated from Catholic High School, where she proudly cheered on the sidelines as a member of the cheerleading squad. She went on to earn her nursing degree from the St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing and dedicated her career to caring for others, working at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Demuth Glass, Century Aluminum, and ultimately retiring from Dupont.
Pat loved spending time with her family, and once her children were grown, she was always ready for her next adventure—often with her sister Gay and her niece Mindy. She never turned down a chance to travel. A nurse through and through, she was always available to help sick family members. She enjoyed playing nickel poker with her siblings and their spouses, and she loved the sound of a clanging slot machine—always insisting she never lost a dime because if she didn’t win, she “broke even.” Most of all, she adored her grandchildren, of whom she was endlessly proud.
Surviving are her her children: Greg Peterman (Amy) of Sachse, Texas, Jeff Peterman (Sandy) of Batavia, Illinois and Tressa Cochran (Tom) of Belpre, Ohio; grandchildren: Will Peterman, Sophie Cochran, and Tyson Cochran.
She was preceded in death by her loving and loyal husband Ken Peterman, her brothers: William, Charles, Robert, George, John, Donald, Jenings, and Gary along with an infant brother and sisters: Rosemary Rhodes and sister/best friend Gay Metz.
Pat also had a special love for her cats—Tammy, Tomasina, Pete, Mandy, Smoke, and Ginger—each one bringing her comfort, joy, and companionship throughout the years.
Funeral services will be Monday 11AM at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Pastor Adam Myers officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Parkersburg. Visitation will be Sunday 2-5PM and one hour prior to services.
A heartfelt thank you to Cawley Hospice, Mom’s extended family. She loved and truly enjoyed the attention, kindness, and company you all provided. Thank you for caring for her so tenderly: Dr. Cawley, Danielle, Tunisha, Jess, Eva, Lance, and Rick.
And to Mary, her niece, there are no words to express our gratitude. You loved and cared for Mom in a way that gave me peace whenever I couldn’t be there. I cannot thank you enough. To Mindy, you were her link to freedom, and we appreciate every single time you helped with Mom.
