In Loving Memory of Linda Darlene Farnsworth

Linda Darlene Farnsworth, 79, of Parkersburg, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2026. She was born in Parkersburg on November 27, 1946, to the late Mabel Helen (Walker) and Edward Perry Miller.
Linda grew up in Wood County with three brothers, Edward Jr., Gene, and Mike, and seven sisters, Janet, Shirley, Barbara, Sharon, Sandy, Margie, and Winnie. She graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1965. Following high school, she took various secretarial courses at Butler Business School in Connecticut during which time she lived with her eldest brother who was known by the family as “Bill”. In 1969, Linda married Michael Dennis Farnsworth, Sr., who was a sergeant in the United States Army. Linda lived with Michael in Germany for a few months and then returned with him to Fort Dix, New Jersey. Following her husband’s military service, the couple resided in Columbus, Ohio, and Charleston, West Virginia, before returning to Parkersburg where she made a home for their children and worked in various roles for Head Start, Montgomery Ward, Kreinik Manufacturing, and Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Linda enjoyed the simple things in life such as classic films, flowers, card games, and genealogy. Most of all, she embraced her roles as mother, wife, and homemaker, finding joy in her family and devoting herself to filling their home with love by way of her home cooked meals for dinner around the table and supporting her children in their various endeavors as they grew. In later years, it was her grandchildren, “the babies”, by whom she was lovingly known as “Nan”, who received the blessing of her nurturing as she greeted them lovingly and asked with great anticipation to hear “every little thing” about their day to day adventures. Nan devoted her life to doing whatever she could to help “the babies” succeed and let them know that they were loved, whether they were her children, her grandchildren, or other children that she knew needed extra love in their lives. Nan will be remembered as one who relished the simple pleasures in life and looked for the good in everyone and everything. She shared a smile, a listening ear, kind words, and a compassionate heart with all those she knew.
Linda is survived by her husband, Michael D. Farnsworth, Sr.; her children, Michael (Kimberly) Farnsworth, Jr., and Laura (David) Randolph; and her grandchildren, Alaina Randolph, Abigail (Scott) Talbot, Zachary (Hannah) Farnsworth, Rachel Farnsworth, and Madeline Farnsworth. Linda is also survived by her brother Mike and sisters Barbara and Margie. They will all surely miss her warm hugs and loving presence in their lives.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, several siblings, and infant grandson, Brycen Kurtis Randolph.
A time of remembrance for family and friends to share their memories of Linda will be held on Saturday, September 26, from 12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. at the Leavitt Reception Center, 620 Avery Street, Parkersburg.
She will be interred at Hopewell Cemetery following a private graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to a charity for children are welcomed.
