Geoffrey A. Austin, 62, of Parkersburg passed away August 14, 2026 at his residence. He was born on March 6, 1964 in Omaha, NE a son of the late A. Christopher and Carma Austin. He grew up in Wisconsin and graduated from Port Washington- Saukville HS in 1982, where he was a lettered member of the marching band.
He was a US Army veteran from 1980-85 as a combat signaler stationed in Nuremberg Germany and Fort Drum, NY. He worked for many years as a cable technician, an optometrist, and a truck driver until he retired due to health reasons. Geoff was also a Green Bay Packer shareholder who delighted in asking people if they’d ever shaken hands with an NFL owner.
He was a lifetime member of GWRRA and served as the treasurer for West Virginia for many years. He was a skilled motorcycle rider having won Top Gun (riding competition) at several rallies.
He is greatly missed by his wife Susan Austin; his brother Andy (Laurie) Austin; two nephews, Braeden (Amanda), and Jerin; and one great-nephew, Noah. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Julie and Theresa LaVenture and many uncles, aunts, and cousins. He will be missed by close friends Skip and Katie Emory as well as people across the states and several countries.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents and several uncles and aunts. A lifelong Golden Retriever Dad, he will be met by Reggie, Shiloh, Sammie, Frankie, Beans and Jelly at the golden gates.
A gathering of family and friends will be on Saturday, August 29th, from 4- 6pm at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg.
