Cathy Darlene Cornell Wright, 56 of Parkersburg, WV, passed away at Marietta Memorial Hospital on Monday, July 13, 2026.
She was born in Parkersburg, WV to David “Doc” and Dolley Marie (Jewell) Cornell. She was raised in Cairo, WV.
She was the first class to graduate from Ritchie County High School with the class of 1987. She graduated from West Virginia University in Parkersburg in 2014 with an Associate in Applied Science Business Technology Degree and in 2015 with a Regent Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business. She worked at Gabriel Brothers, Evergreen Cemeteries, and thirteen years at Carmichael Monument.
She loved helping people, watching and listening to Judy Garland, the Hallmark Channel, and NASCAR, going backroading, and decorating Christmas trees.
She had a smile that would light up a room, a beautiful laugh, and was generous to everyone she met. She was deeply loved by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Wright, her son Douglas Paul Reed of Marietta, OH, her daughter Donna Marie Parsons of Parkersburg, WV, her grandson Dean Cole Castleberry who she raised, her granddaughter Summer Star Parsons, her sister, Crystal Wilson (Wesley) of Cairo WV and her nephew, Ryan Samples.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, David Wayne Cornell.
Per her wishes, there will be no visitation or service. She was cremated and her ashes will be laid to rest at Cairo I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Cairo, WV.
