Fredretta Lavara Eason, 85, of Belpre, OH, passed away May 21, 2026, at her residence. She was born June 9, 1940, in Raleigh, NC, a daughter of the late Thel and Selma Parker Eason.
Freddie was a woman whose love knew no limits. She opened her home and heart to numerous foster children over the years, offering kindness, stability, and compassion to every child who crossed her path. Her nurturing spirit left a lasting impact on countless lives.
As the devoted wife of a military serviceman, Freddie showed remarkable strength and resilience, successfully raising four boys on her own during the many months their father was deployed. Through every challenge, she created a home filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support.
Freddie had a deep love for music and could carry a tune beautifully. Whether singing along to her favorite songs or simply enjoying the comfort music brought her, she shared that joy with everyone around her.
One of Freddie’s proudest accomplishments was finding a home in Sandbridge Beach, a decision she made on her own that became a treasured gathering place and created lasting memories for the entire family for generations to come.
Her adventurous spirit carried her across five of the world’s seven continents, where she touched countless lives with her warmth, humor, and genuine kindness. No matter where she traveled, Freddie had a way of making people feel seen and valued.
In the latter years of her life, Freddie became a published author, sharing poetry she had written many years before. Her words became a treasured gift to her children, who continue to cherish both her poetry and the beautiful spirit reflected within it.
She was known for her favorite saying, “Everything works and nothing hurts,” words that now bring both comfort and reflection to those who loved her. And as any of her boys would tell you, she never let them leave without reminding them: “Safety first!”
Surviving are four sons: Todd Knight (Diane) of Virginia Beach, VA, Stefan Knight (Tabitha) of Belpre, OH, Damon Knight (Whitney) of Belleville, WV, and Alex Knight (Anissa) of Virginia Beach.
She also leaves behind seven grandchildren (Matt, Michael, Connor, Autumn, Hannah, Taylor, and Morgan) and four great-grandchildren (Jaxson, Emelia, Stella, and Vivian).
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Larry Lytle.
In following Mrs. Eason’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
