Edna JoAnn Shock Ward, 85, of Grantsville, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026. Born February 27, 1941, in Grantsville, she was the daughter of the late Willard Shock and Lucille Shock.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Denzil Ward; three brothers; and one sister.
JoAnn worked for many years in the sewing department at Rubber Fabricators. She later owned and operated JoAnn’s Place Restaurant and also served on the Grantsville City Council.
She was a faithful member of Enon Baptist Church and greatly enjoyed attending the senior center, where she helped plan programs alongside her sister, Judy. She especially loved playing bingo, spending time with friends, cooking, crafting, and sewing. JoAnn was well known for her cooking talents and the kindness she showed to others throughout her life.
She is survived by her children, Brenda Snider of Grantsville, Brent Snider of Elizabeth, and Brigett Funk (Bryan) of Elizabeth; her sisters, Judy Shock Morton and Tamela Shock Moore; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
JoAnn will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her.
A memorial service date will be announced at a later time.
