Douglas Benard Fouss, born December 13, 1944, in Marietta, Ohio, passed away on January 29, 2026, leaving behind a legacy defined by faith, dedication, service, and a deep love for family.
He was the beloved son of Walter William Fouss and Ruth Isabella (Meisenhelder) Fouss, and the stepson of Wilbur Cassady.
Doug married the love of his life, Marjory Denise (Hogue) Fouss, with whom he shared 59 years of devotion and partnership. Several years after they were married, Doug and Marjory moved to the Cincinnati area when God called them to be foster parents. Doug and Marjory were also blessed to grow their family by having biological children. He leaves behind a legacy of generosity, devotion, and laughter and an unwavering belief in helping others to their foster children and children: Phyllis Brinkdopke (Larry), Colleen Davidson (RL), Shirley Reichman, Nancy Stephens (Mickey), Garrett Riley, Tom Riley (Nola), John Riley (Tonya), Greg Fouss, Eric Fouss (Kristen), and Andy Fouss (Erica).
One of Doug’s greatest joys was his evergrowing family, and he was blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Each one deeply cherished and a treasured part of his personal legacy. Known for his sense of humor and infectious laugh, Doug brought joy into every room he entered. As a fun and spirited Papa and uncle, he brought joy, comfort, and laughter to the lives those around him.
Doug was preceded in death by his siblings David, Dennis, Dawn, and Dwight. He is survived by his brother Dana (Vickie) and sistersinlaw Diane, Liz and Margie.
A man of deep and abiding Christian faith, Doug served faithfully as a deacon, elder, and treasurer in several congregations throughout his life. After his stroke in 2021, he attended the East Bay Church of Christ, where he found strength, fellowship, and encouragement.
A dedicated professional, Doug spent 30 years with Bank One and Citizens Bank of Higginsport, serving as a branch manager, loan officer, and later vice president. His integrity, leadership, and commitment to service earned him the respect of colleagues and customers alike.
Doug attended Ohio Valley College and Harding University, where he began building he foundation for a life devoted to faith, service, and community. For the past 14 years,
Doug and Marjory enjoyed life in Sun City Center, Florida, where they found joy in warm weather, good friends, and countless cherished memories.
Doug’s devotion to service extended well beyond church and career. His community involvement included time as a village councilman, association president, and volunteer for the local emergency squad, reflecting his lifelong commitment to helping others.
Doug will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering faith, joyful spirit, and the love he poured into his family. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched—as a husband, father, grandfather, foster parent, brother, uncle, leader, neighbor, colleague, and friend.
There will be a Memorial Service at the East Bay Church of Christ in FLorida on Saturday, February 14, 2026. There will be another Memorial Gathering on July 25, 2026 in the Cincinnati, Ohio area.
