Virgil James Barnette Jr.
Virgil James Barnette, Jr. went to be with the Lord on January 29, 2026 at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital. Virgil was born to Belva Bragg Barnette and Virgil J. Barnette on March 23, 1941 in Gassaway, West Virginia.
Virgil was retired from NAPA Auto Parts Store, was a proud Marine Corp veteran, an avid hunter and fisherman, and was Christian by faith. In his nearly 85 years on this Earth, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a great-great grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Coberly Barnette; his daughters Tina Ballengee (Chad) and Cynthia Barnette (Mike) ;and grandchildren Jason T. Ballengee II (Melanie), Jacob T. Ballengee (Erica), Nicholeen Little (Boone), Amanda Queen, Amber Delaney (David), James Little, Dewayne Blair, Jr., Andrew Blair, and Tabitha Hutson (Wes). He is also survived by many great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers: Vaughn Barnette, Gene Barnette, Carlin Barnette, and Robert “Dale” Barnette; three sisters: Marie Butcher, Rosalie NIchols, and Kaye Lester; one daughter: Angela Van Skiver (James); one granddaughter: Jasmine T. Ballengee and one great grandaughter: Kapri Little.
As per Virgil’s wishes, there will be no public service. His final wish of cremation is being handled by Leavitt’s Funeral Home. He will be interred in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Mineral Wells, West VIrginia at a later date. A celebration of life will be held at the family’s convenience.
The family would like to that Dr. Kelli Cawley, Amedisys Hospice Care, and the nurses and staff of Camden Clark Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care during Virgil’s final days.
