George Lee Ambrose, 77, of Parkersburg, peacefully went home to be with his Lord and savior Jesus Christ on October 17th 2026. He was born December 30, 1948, a son of the late Richard and Vernetta Ambrose Davis.
George liked hunting, Pittsburgh Steelers, Wii bowling, word search puzzles, being outdoors, and walking around the mall. He was also an active member of Sunrise Baptist Church for many years.
George is survived by his wife of 56 years, Roxie Ambrose; his daughters, Jennifer Schultz and husband John, and Angela Lucas and husband P. K.; grandchildren Michael Shultz and wife Samantha, Wyatt Shultz and wife Riley, Carrie Helm and husband Ryan, Sam Miller and husband Trevor, and Sarah Lucas; and great-grandchildren Emersyn “Emmy” and Addie. He is also survived by his brother, Archie Ambrose and wife Shirley; sisters Opal Riffle and Mary Simonton; sister in law Jean Ambrose; two stepsisters; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his sister, Beulah Flowers; brothers Richard Ray Ambrose, Francis Ambrose, and Emmett Ambrose; and several nieces and nephews.
Services for George will be held Monday, October 26, at 11 a.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 25, from 3 to 5 p.m. and again one hour prior to the service on Monday. Burial will follow the service at Evergreen North Cemetery. A dinner will follow the graveside service at sunrise Baptist church.
