Janet (Lantz) Williams passed away on September 21, 2026 after a courageous battle with dementia. She was born in Parkersburg, WV November 29th 1947, the daughter of the late Donald G. Lantz and Emma Neil (Hughes) Lantz.
Janet graduated from Parkersburg High School with the PHS Class of 65 and earned her teaching Degree from Glenville State College where she was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority. She taught for (40) years in the Wood County School System starting at the age of (19) under an emergency certificate during a teacher shortage in WV. Her first position was teaching elementary classes at Waverly Elementary School. During her tenure she taught at several grade schools in Wood County including Waverly Elementary, Fairplains Elementary, Franklin Elementary, Worthington Elementary and McKinley Elementary. She retired at the age of (59) to enjoy retirement and her favorite pastime visiting her two sons & wives, three grandsons & granddaughter living in the Carolina’s.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years Larry Williams, son Brett Williams (Angela) and their children Cooper & Elle. And son Bryan Williams (Kristin) and their twin sons Kellan and Hayden. Janet is also survived by her sister Laura Bradley and sister-in-law Dee Lantz along with several nieces & nephews.
Janet was predeceased by her sister Pamela Himelrick and brother Jeffery Lantz.
Services will be held Saturday, 1:00 pm at Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg with The Reverend Kevin Lantz, relative, conducting the service.
Visitation will be Friday 2 -4 pm and 6- 9 pm and Saturday half an hour before the service.
Interment will be held immediately after the service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
