Steven Kenneth Wells, 68, of Parkersburg passed away surrounded by his family on September 5, 2026 at Marietta Memorial Hospital in Marietta, OH. He was born on August 19, 1958 in Parkersburg, WV a son of the late Kenneth Eugene Wells and Lola Mae (Davis) Wells.
Steven was a concrete finisher for the majority of his life. He was also formerly a volunteer firefighter for the Waverly Volunteer Fire Department. He loved his coffee, hunting, fishing, and watching the hummingbirds. In his free time, Steven enjoyed gardening, metal detecting, and spending time with his family, especially when it involved taking his grandchildren four-wheeling. Steven was a kind man who never knew a stranger. Anywhere he went, there was always someone he knew, and he was always happy to spend time with anyone who knew him. He will be remembered as a man with a quick wit and a great sense of humor, but above all, a loving husband, father, and papaw.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years Joyce Wells, his three daughters Rachel Smith (Kevin), Kelly Wells, and Stacy Duley (Jared), his eight grandchildren Ashley, Hunter, Akera, Hayden, Sadie, Jacob, Spencer, and Zoe, and his one great-grandchild Willow.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Joseph Wells.
Steven will be cremated, and there will be no services at this time. He was an organ donor, and was able to give the gift of sight to someone in need.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the hospice staff as well as the doctors and nurses on the cancer floor that helped take care of Steven.
