Brenda Kay (Craven) Pugh, age 74, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Brenda was born on June 9, 1952, to the late Homer Craven and Edith Edwards. A proud graduate of Parkersburg High School, Class of 1970, Brenda went straight into the workforce. Over her dedicated career, she lent her hard work and warm personality to Schott Glass, Corning Glass, Lane Bryant, and Le Cafe.
On November 26, 1982, Brenda married the love of her life, Rick Pugh. They shared 29 wonderful years of marriage together before his passing in 2011.
Family was the center of Brenda’s world. She was the ultimate grandmother, passionately following the sports and activities of her grandkids. She was their biggest fan and made it a point never to miss a single event. When she wasn’t cheering in the stands, Brenda loved losing herself in a good book and playing cards with family and friends. She also cherished the lifelong bond she shared with her best friend, Bonita Kay Sayre, and found immense joy in the company of her beloved dog and loyal companion, Bailey, who was always by her side.
Brenda’s legacy of love lives on through her devoted family. She is survived by her children, Jason Craven (Tiffanie), Matt Pugh, Brittany Pugh, and Nikki McCloy Shivlar (Jesse), her grandchildren Courtney Argumedo (Stephanie), Jake Craven (Lexie), Olivia McCloy, Bella McCloy, and Elijah Shivlair, her siblings Joe Craven (Kathy) and Charlie Craven (Lisa), and her cousins Cindy Schlarb (Mike Norman), Toni Lynn, Joe Smith, Myra Tewksberry and Alex Knickles.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Virgil and Eva Mod Grant.
Family and friends are invited to visitation on Saturday, September 5, 2026, from noon to 2:00 p.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg, WV. A memorial service, officiated by Pastor Chris Pugh, will follow the visitation. A reception with refreshments will follow immediately afterward across the street at the Leavitt Reception Center.
In lieu of flowers, Brenda and the family requested that donations be made in her memory to the Humane Society of Parkersburg or Cawley Hospice in Belpre, two causes very close to her heart.
