Cleon B. Smith, 85, of Cutler, OH, passed away July 25, 2026, at the Muskingum Nursing And Rehab in Beverly, OH.
He was born on November 15, 1940, in Givens, WV, a son of the late Cleo and Eva Thornton Smith.
Cleon worked 30 years as an Engineer for Washington County before retiring in 1992. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his children: Karen Sue Beatty (Bob), Kenneth William Smith and Carolyn Yvonne Grossman (Dennis); grandchildren: Kassie Hall (Tommy Carder), Jessica Bell (Daryl Kaplinger), Katie Adams (Danny) and Kenneth Smith Jr. (Catherine Holland), great-grandchildren: Jerod Hall, Annabelle Hall, Grayson Hall, Mattox Smith, Danny Adams, Zachary Adams, Evie Adams and 3 adopted great-grandchildren: Zach Adams, Nick Adams and Josh Adams; brothers: Cecil Smith, Webster Smith and Elbert Smith; and sisters: Goldie Smith and Evie Carter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Inece “Loretta” Caldwell Smith; brother Albert Smith; and sister, Leona McCutcheon.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Leavitt Funeral Home Belpre. Burial will follow at Bartlett Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.LeavittFuneralHome.com
