Margaret “Emily” Smith, 91, of Little Hocking, OH passed away Thursday May 21, 2026 at her residence. She was born in Little Hocking, a daughter of the late Edwin T. and Florence E. (Collins) McPherson.
Emily was a homemaker, loving mother, and a dedicated community volunteer. She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and a 1953 graduate of Belpre High School. For over 50 years, a 4-H advisor for the Decatur Buckeyes. A charter member, (1963) of Little Hocking Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. Emily was a member of the Little Hocking Garden Club for over 25 years, where she was awarded Master Gardener status. She was a member of Decatur Community Association.
She is survived by six children Deborah Holmes (Donald) of Brentwood, TN; Mary Margaret Bachtel (Tom) of The Villages, FL; Edwin T. Smith of Little Hocking; Teresa Little of Waverly, WV; Joyce DeLancey (Roger) of Belpre and Andy Smith (Paula) of Little Hocking; ten grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John T. Smith and brother David McPherson.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 26th from 5-7 pm at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre. A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, May 27th at 11:00 am, St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Little Hocking and inurnment will follow at Rockland Cemetery.
