Jameson Young

Jameson Samuel Young, 59, passed away May 18, 2026 in Parkersburg, WV.

Jameson was born August 13, 1966, the second youngest child of Hubert and Susanne Young. He graduated from Kokomo High School in 1984. He has been with the love of his life and soul mate, Brenda Helms since 2007.

Above all else, Jameson loved people. Making friends, reuniting with friends, and connecting with people brought him immense joy. He lived to make people laugh, to brighten their day, and to simply put a smile on one’s face. He had the gift of asking unique questions that pulled people into deeper sharing and connection.

He loved music-all kinds and all eras. He was old enough to have seen all the great bands live and was timeless enough to have tickets to an upcoming Billy Strings concert. He loved the Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Van Morrison; country artists like Junior Brown and too many jazz artists to mention. Music put a smile on his face and energy in his soul like nothing else.

Jameson was a compassionate servant, in recent years eulogizing at funerals and being a caretaker to friends in need. He loved being a help to others in any way he could.

Jameson brought a joyous and compelling zeal, passion, and charisma to life that infected those around him. His energy and love will be profoundly missed.

He is survived by life partner, Brenda Helms, Parkersburg, WV, siblings Darvan, Marlon, and Brady Young, Parkersburg, WV, and Morgan (Sandra) Young Kokomo, IN. He is survived by two nephews, Taylor and Christian Young, Anderson IN, niece, Meghan Young, Indianapolis, IN, and nephew, Slater (Alyssa) Young, Greentown, IN.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 23, 1:00 PM at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg WV. The family will receive friends Friday, May 22 from 5-7 PM.
