Nancy J. Mason, 97, of Parkersburg, is now tailgating at the big horseshoe in the sky; we allow her that indulgence since she was an avid Mountaineer fan too.
She was born on October 25, 1928, in Parkersburg, a daughter of the late Herbert E. Dearth and Virginia (Moosman) Dearth.
Nancy was a legal secretary and a parishioner at St Margaret Mary’s.
She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and she enjoyed cross-stitching, sports, and family.
Nancy is survived by her son, Stephen E. Taylor (Cheryl D.) of Parkersburg, four grandchildren, Laura Jarrell (Brian), Christopher Taylor, Justin Taylor (Jessica Fowler), and Rebecca Taylor, four great-grandchildren, River Jarrell, Lily Jarrell, Roman Taylor, and Nick Taylor, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Victor W. “Jiggs) Mason Jr, brother, Barney Dearth, daughter, Suzy McAtee, and sister, Claradell Smith.
Service will be Saturday, 11:00 AM at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Parkersburg. Visitation will be on Friday, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
