Dorothy Jean (Blackburn) Cole, age 93, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2026 at her home in Belpre, Ohio. She was born August 17, 1932 in Torch, Ohio to the late Melvin and Gladys (Boston) Blackburn. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Leslie M. Cole who passed away in October 2002. Dorothy grew up in Torch and in February 1956 married Leslie. She spent most of her years as a homemaker. Les and Dorothy enjoyed many travels with family and friends throughout the years and were always ready for an evening of card games with friends. They were long- term members of St. Marks United Methodist Church. Dorothy most enjoyed her family and flowers. In her later years she looked forward to spending time at the Senior Center having lunch and playing bingo and cards with friends.
She is survived by her three sons; Randy (Beth) Cole of Vincent, OH, Kevin (Tracy) Cole of Vincent, and Brian (Raymond) Cole of Columbus. Also surviving are five grandchildren; Justin (Michelle) Cole of Cedarville, OH, Derek (Megan) Cole of Indianapolis, Landon (Abby) Cole of Vincent, Wade (Emily) Cole of Hilliard, OH, and Aubrey (Emory) Kuo of West Chester, OH. Her life was blessed with 12 great grandchildren; Owen, Liana, Aralyn, Brenna, Paige, Christian, Hattie, August and Levi Cole, and Bellamy, Aslan, and Ryland Kuo.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters; Harold Blackburn, Mary Jones, Bernice Cowdery, Virginia Copeman, and Ruth Blazer.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026 from 11AM to 1 PM at theLeavitt Funeral Home in Belpre. The service will be held immediately after at 1 PM. Burial will follow at Coolville Cemetery.
