Sherry Lea Rafferty, 81, died on April 17 in her home, surrounded by friends and family.
Born on May 4, 1944, Sherry was a lifelong Belpre resident who graduated Belpre High School in 1962. Sherry devoted her life to caring for others. A loving caretaker in every sense of the word, she opened her heart and home to grandparents, parents, children, aunts, uncles, siblings, friends, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren alike. Everyone was welcome, and no one ever left without a full stomach-and a healthy dose of her signature sass.
Sherry was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ray Rafferty; her parents, Clara Mae Wilcoxen and Ralph Wilcoxen; her sister in-law Carolyn Wilcoxen; her brother, William Thomas Wilcoxen; and her son-in-law, Richard McNulty.
She is survived by her children, Carol McNulty and Jeff Rafferty (Michelle); her sister Phyllis Edgell (Allen); her grandchildren, Ryan McNulty (Tawny), Spenser Rafferty (Skyler), Erin McNulty (Christopher), and Casey Rafferty (Jasmine); and her great-grandchildren, Kaylee Rafferty, Ty Rafferty, Syreniti Merrill, Quinn Rafferty, Jensen McNulty, Everleigh McNulty, Eliza McNulty, and Edison McNulty. She is also survived by her chosen family, Dave and Michelle Plummer, and Amber Brannon (Rhett, Hannah, and Hailey).
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Cawley Hospice, especially Danielle and Hannah, and to BrightStar, especially Roberta, Lori, and Hannah, for their compassionate and tender care during Sherry’s final days.
Memorial services will be Saturday, May 2, 2026, 1:00 pm, at the Leavitt Funeral Home Belpre, with Pastor Rick Kapple, officiating. Inurnment will follow at Rockland Cemetery, Belpre.
