Donny Mick
Donny Dean Mick, 61, of Little Hocking, OH, passed away on April 7, 2026, at his residence. He was born on February 2, 1965, in Greenfield, OH, a son of Larry E. Cottrill of Bainbridge, OH, and the late Evelyn Mick Cottrill.
Donny was a loving father, devoted friend, and the kind of man who truly never knew a stranger. He had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off his back without a second thought. Donny loved his family with all of his heart, and some of his happiest moments were spent taking cruises and making memories with the people he loved most. He was a hardworking man who never slowed down and always found a way to bring a smile to your face. Donny had a special way of putting others before himself, and his kindness and laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He often reminded those around him that “life is too short and tomorrow is never promised,” a reflection of how he lived each day—with love, urgency, and appreciation for the people in his life. He would want everyone to remember that life’s experiences, no matter how difficult, are meant to toughen you up.
Surviving is his loving partner Carrie Boyd of Little Hocking, Kierston Stone (Cody) of Parkersburg, son Justin Mick of Belpre, stepdaughter Whitney Poling (Zachary) of Coolville, stepson Chris Jett (Jen) of Walker, sister Angel Rodgers (Mark) of Cynthiana, OH, and brothers: Eric Cottrill and Dana Cottrill, both of Parkersburg. Loving friend and mother of his two children, Shelly Holbrooks of Parkersburg. Son Jason Cottrill and daughter Nina Viney.
Donny also leaves behind 10 grandchildren: Alexis Dalton (Hunter), Kaylee Griffin, Dylan Church, Wyatt Church, Paxton Mick, Nova Church, Nathan Jones (Christine), Brendan Been, Gabe Jett, and Abigail Jett, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be on Saturday at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Chaplain Ryan Clegg officiating. A time of gathering for family and friends will be one hour prior to services.
