Normus Dale Vincent, 79, of Parkersburg, passed away March 1, 2026, at Camden Clark Medical Center. He was born April 2, 1946, a son to the late Normus S. and Faye E. Vincent (Sams).
Dale proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps, earning numerous commendations including the Purple Heart Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation Medal, National Defense Ribbon, Vietnamese Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, Marksman Rifle Badge, Marksman Pistol Badge, and Good Conduct Medal. Following his honorable military service, he dedicated his career to hard work and leadership, serving as a Crew Leader for the WV Department of Highways and spending 17 years at the Walker Plant in Parkersburg, West Virginia. Dale was a loving and caring man who never hesitated to share a word of advice or an opinion with anyone willing to listen. He will be remembered for his strength, dedication, and the steady presence he brought to all who knew him.
Normus is survived by his sisters Nora Metz, Karen Wolfe, Debra Mullinex, and Janet Dutton; brother Walter Vincent, and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Opal V. Holliday Vincent; sisters Helen Grant, Joan Alexander, Cheryl Dawson, and Donna Snyder; brothers Russell Vincent and Carl Vincents; infant twin sisters Mildred and Marie, infant brother Harley Eugene Vincent, and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Normus will take place Friday, March 6, at Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg, at 11am. Visitation will be held Thursday, the 5th, from 2-4 pm, and again from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service Friday at Sunset Memory Gardens with full military honors.
