CATHIE SUE MOORE, 85 of Vienna, West Virginia, went peacefully on Friday, January 30,
2026, to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born on October 20, 1940 in her
beloved Doddridge County. Her life was a beautiful example of faith and love.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harley Zackquill and Thelma Aletha Moore (Davis),
four brothers, Lewis Edward, Marlin Channing, Darrell Ashford, and Robert Lee Moore and
two sisters, Aletha Mae Moore, and Isabelle Moore Fox; five nieces, Daphne Jill Moore Doak,
Monica Maret Moore Daigle, Amy Colleen Moore Kierans, Carla Jan Moore Watson, and
Kimberly Elaine Moore; three great nieces, Laurie Beth Watson, Jennifer Marie Watson and
Loreece Lynn Pentecost and two great nephews, Caleb Lewis Moore and Levi Gray Carrell.
Cathie is survived by six sisters, Clela Eileen (Robert) Spurgeon, Orma Lou (Don) Yeater,
Carolyn Jeanette (Guy) Cumpston, Marilyn Jeanne (Jack) Wright, Elzabeth Ann (Larry) Wright
and Ruby Jane (Richard) Carpenter.
She is also survived by 36 nephews and nieces, 99 great nephews and nieces and 123 great-
great nephews and nieces and still counting.
Cathie started her career employed by The Bureau of the Public Debt in Parkersburg where
she retired with 37 years of service. The love of her life was music and spending time with
her family. She was an accomplished pianist and organist dedicating her entire adult life
playing in church as well as for many venues. She enjoyed playing the Trumpet as first chair
in the Doddridge County Band and Orchestra. Cathie was also a piano teacher for many years
teaching children and adults the art that she dearly loved. In addition to her music career, she
loved sports, primarily football, and was an avid fan of the West Virginia Mountaineers and
the Dallas Cowboys. She enjoyed working in her yard designing and planting beautiful flower
beds and inviting her family and friends in to play Shuffleboard. She loved to travel and
made sure she attended all the Moore family events that she possibly could, ensuring her
cameras were by her side. More importantly, she was a devout Christian and a prayer warrior
for her Lord. Cathie had many friends and was loved by everyone who knew her. She was a
member of New Hope Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 5th, 2026, at New
Hope Baptist Church, 1777 Rosemar Road, Parkersburg, followed by a Service of Celebration
at 2:00 P.M. with Dr. Darrin S. Wright and Pastor Troy Nesselrode officiating. Interment will
follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Parkersburg.
The family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses at Camden Clark Medical Center,
Hospice of Adoration and the Aides at Cedar Grove Assisted Living for their love and care.
