Rodney Allen Wharton, 79, of Parkersburg, WV died Thursday January 29, 2026 at

Camden Clark Memorial Hospital with family at his bedside. Rodney was born in

Parkersburg, WV, a son of the late Frank and Elva Kesterson Wharton on July 29, 1946.

He graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1965. He was a veteran of the Vietnam

War having served in the United States Army 1st Calvary Division (Airmobile) from

December 1968 to December 1969. He received the National Defense Service medal,

Vietnam Campaign Metal, Vietnam Service Metal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, and the

Army Commendation Medal.

After 31 years of service, Rodney retired from American Municipal Power. He was a member of

Emmanual Baptist Church. Rodney loved dogs and classic cars.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Loretta Stokes and Patricia Fulton.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Pamela Wharton. He is also survived by his

daughter and son-in law, Debbie & Benjamin Huffman, 2 grandsons Sebastian & Elias

Huffman, and 1 grand-dog Ash all of Parkersburg.

Funeral services will be Tuesday 11AM at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1710 23rd St.

Parkersburg with Pastor Kurt Busiek officiating. Visitation will be Monday 4-6PM at the Leavitt

Funeral Home, Parkersburg and one hour prior to services at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Emmanual Baptist Church

or the Humane Society of Parkersburg 530 29th St. Parkersburg, WV 26101.
